Home insurance market 'becoming battleground'

British consumers are becoming increasingly interested in getting a good deal on their home
insurance, a new report has stated.
Industry research firm Consumer Intelligence (CI) claimed that a growing number of Britons are comparing
insurance prices and switching policy providers in order to save money - mirroring a trend previously seen in the motor
insurance sector.
According to CI, price sensitivity among home
insurance firms has increased by ten per cent in the last few months, while several leading providers have recently cut their annual premiums by 50 per cent as the market becomes more competitive.
Managing director of CI Ian Hughes said: "Consumers long ago woke up to the fact that they can save serious money on their motor
insurance by switching providers.
"It was only a matter of time before they applied the same principle to home
insurance."
Legal & General recently stated that more property owners could avoid having to claim on their
insurance policy by becoming more safety-conscious around the home.
