Drivers given insurance saving tips

An
insurance firm has given motorists a number of simple tips on how to reduce their premiums.
Norwich Union said that going online to buy car
insurance is "one of the first things" that drivers should be doing, as many providers offer a discount of at least ten per cent for policies purchased on their website.
"The channel that you use to buy your
insurance can give you a discount right there," stated Norwich Union spokesperson Erik Nelsen.
Another easy way of making car
insurance cheaper is to keep the vehicle in a garage rather than on the street or outside a house, Mr Nelsen said.
The spokesperson advised all motorists with access to a garage to use it for storing their car, as this means that the vehicle is in a safe place and therefore keeps premiums down.
However, he also warned people against simply searching for the cheapest quote when arranging their car
insurance, stating that "the best cover at the best price" should be the consumer's goal.
Law firm Mace & Jones recently said that employers should take more responsibility for the safety of employees who drive company cars.
