New year travellers urged to arrange insurance

People booking post-Christmas holidays have been reminded to check that they have travel
insurance before setting off abroad.
According to research from Sainsbury's Finance, almost 12 million Britons plan to arrange a holiday between Christmas and the end of February 2008, with 23 per cent making bookings during the first week after Christmas.
The firm urged holidaymakers not to forget about travel
insurance in the excitement of getting a good deal on their trip, as well as stressing the importance of shopping around for the best policy.
"While it's easy to get excited about shopping around for destinations, resorts and even flights, travel
insurance should not be ignored or accepted as merely an add-on," said Steve Johnson, head of Sainsbury's Travel Insurance.
He added that travel cover is essential "whether you're booking now for some winter sun or are just planning ahead for your summer holiday".
Research from Cornhill Direct recently stated that one third of British consumers go into
debt over Christmas each year.
