Motorists warned over Christmas breakdowns

The UK's drivers have been advised to take extra care with their cars during the Christmas holidays.
According to Green Flag, motoring breakdowns traditionally reach their peak in December and January, as many vehicles struggle to cope with the cold conditions and car batteries frequently fail.
January 2nd is expected to be the worst day for breakdowns during the forthcoming festive period, according to the roadside assistance provider.
Green Flag spokesperson Abi Clark commented: "Icy conditions and wet, cold weather means cars are far more likely to break down in winter.
"In addition, people tend to use their cars less over the holiday period while they spend more time at home."
The British Insurance Brokers' Association recently urged motorists to ensure that they have a full
insurance policy in place and are aware of the dangers of wet and icy roads before driving over the festive period.
