Wedding insurance 'becoming commonplace'

A growing number of British couples are choosing to purchase
insurance for their wedding day, an expert has claimed.
Dan Tremain of insurer Debenhams said that the growth of the internet has made wedding
insurance more accessible, with taking out a policy for the big day "becoming more commonplace" in the UK as a result.
The product development manager also stated that couples are spending more money on their nuptials in general, with a growing number of extravagant "wannabe-celeb weddings" contributing to this trend.
Mr Tremain commented: "Certainly we are seeing people spending more.
"The knowledge about it [wedding
insurance] is probably more common, whereas in the past I think it was probably more difficult to find."
He also said that the average wedding expenditure in the UK is "certainly in excess of £20,000".
Last month, Debenhams reported a 50 per cent increase in the number of
insurance claims made because of cancellations.
