Travel insurance ignorance 'worrying'

With the Christmas holiday season approaching, consumers have again been warned about the dangers of going abroad without travel
insurance.
Graeme Trudgill of the British Insurance Brokers' Association said that the number of people still travelling overseas without adequate cover is a "big, big worry".
Advising holidaymakers that a travel
insurance policy is "as important as your suitcase", the industry body's technical and corporate affairs executive urged people to sort out their cover before leaving the country, particularly when planning to take part in potentially hazardous winter sports such as skiing.
Mr Trudgill said: "When you are booking your holiday make sure you think about what you will want to do on your holiday and get a policy to cover you.
"Insurance for a weekend is not going to be much money at all - it will be a fraction of the cost of the holiday."
According to a report from Halifax Travel Insurance, approximately 2.5 million UK people choose to spend Christmas abroad each year.
