Christmas shopping "more convenient" online

The internet shopping market is booming as the festive season approaches, an expert has stated.
Director of consumer advice website Shopsafe.co.uk Simon Crisp said that the last week has shown "a real surge" in online activity, as the Christmas shopping period begins in earnest across the UK.
He explained that major retailers such as Argos and John Lewis have improved their websites recently, making it easier for people to purchase goods online and attracting a larger number of internet-savvy consumers.
"Online shopping is becoming more and more convenient for people," Mr Crisp said.
He also warned customers that desirable gift items such as the Nintendo Wii games console are likely to sell out from online stores well before Christmas, while urging people to check the delivery options on their purchases, as this is "one of the big things that can go wrong" with internet shopping.
Earlier this week, payments association Apacs advised consumers to protect their computers from viruses and exercise "common sense" when shopping for Christmas presents online.
