An advertisement has come under fire for insinuating that online gambling can help to attract members of the opposite sex.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received complaints that the adverts for betting company Victor Chandler which runs VCPoker.com were 'irresponsible'.
The publicity campaign, which featured a risqué image of an attractive young woman, had the tagline: "You love sex. She loves sex. You love money. She loves money. You have money. She loves you."
The watchdog ruled that the advert implied that gambling could improve players' sex lives, despite fierce opposition from Victor Chandler who maintained their aim was to suggest that "everyone loves a winner".
ASA also said that the line "see how much you have in common" gave the impression that sexual success was guaranteed to men "even if socially inept".
The ASA's regulations ban advertisements from associating gambling with sexual success.
