Debtors advised to miss January sales

People with large
credit card bills after Christmas should avoid the high street during January, a
debt adviser has stated.
James Ketchell, spokesperson for the Consumer Credit Counselling Service, said that staying away from tempting bargains should be the "first thing" that people should do when attempting to tackle their money worries.
"There's nothing worse than having a big
credit card
debt and piling on another load of
debt," he explained.
Mr Ketchell also said that budgeting becomes "especially" important for people at this time of year, before urging those with serious
debt problems to seek help from professional sources.
He said: "There will be some people who just won't have enough cash to continue.
"In those instances, it's always best to seek advice from an independent charity or
debt advice organisation"
Sainsbury's Bank recently recommended that people view the start of the new year as a chance to review their financial situation.
