Bizarre motor insurance claims revealed

Some of the strangest car insurance claims received by the AA last year have been revealed.One driver put in a claim after a shower of apples fell onto his car from a forklift truck, while another managed to get a car wash machine jammed in his vehicle.
Bizarrely, more than 150 dog-related claims were put in by motorists in 2007, with one driver blaming a collision with a tree on one canine's incessant barking.
Meanwhile, another motorist lodged a claim with the AA when her vehicle was attacked by a number of trolleys flying through the air after falling off a lorry.
"It just goes to show, you need to ensure you're covered for all eventualities, however far-fetched they might seem," commented Janet Pell, head of car insurance for the AA.
Meanwhile, the latest car insurance premium index from the AA has shown that comprehensive policy costs rose by 2.4 per cent in the last quarter.
