Love them or hate them, most people need a mortgage
However not all mortgages are the same, you have good ones and bad ones and it's probably the largest financial commitment you will have to make in your life - so like most life changing events and believe me a mortgage is definitely one of them, it's important that you obtain professional advice from an expert, an independent expert. At trumpo we have 100's that have been screened, tested and are independent, why go to one bank when an adviser can go to hundreds on your behalf.
One very important factor to be aware of is that not all mortgage advisers are good. If you don't wish to use an accredited trumpo adviser, who are tip top, then please make sure that the firm you do use can satisfy the following very important points.
- Are they registered with the FSA? You can check here.
- Have they passed their mortgage exams CeMap 1,2 and 3?
- Have they adopted the Treating Customers Fairly Regime?
- Do they have access to the whole market for mortgages or are they restricted to a panel of lenders?
- As an adviser can they advise on all life insurance companies in the UK or are they restricted to one or a restricted panel of insurers, most estate agents are restricted to who they can use, so please check this one our if your mortgage adviser works in an estate agent.
- Ask him what his fees and commissions are, and please dont pay anything up front, good advisers are happy to be paid on results.
The chances are that if the advisers can quantify his independence and qualified status, you should be safe. Rest assured that since 2004 the industry has become regulated by the FSA so conumer protection is more prevelant now than ever, unfortunately there are bad apples everywhere and our job at Trumpo is to ensure you never have to taste one.
