Life insurance is the most important insurance of them all.
About 20 years ago, little old Trumpo was an insurance salesman and always believed that life insurance should be the No 1 priority when planning your finances.
We have a terrible situation in the UK today whereby “The man from the Pru” is no longer around. Back in the good old days it was part of growing up and being a responsible adult having to sit down in front of the bank manager or your local insurance man and decide how much to put away for a rainy day, and if newly wed it would be to set up your first life insurance policy. What’s happened to these live changing meetings today?
Well it’s no longer financially viable to have 200,000 salesman on the road, and the internet has revolutionised the way consumers wish to arrange their finances, the power is now at the consumers finger tips.
But Trumpo has a WARNING for those internet savvy consumers, clicking the wrong button can seriously damage your families wealth.
I feel comparison sites provide a great tool for research, and for low cost products like pet insurance and travel insurance whereby the terms and conditions can be digested and understood from just the one page, transacting on line is a doddle. But for serious transactions like a mortgage or more particularly life insurance, independent professional advice is critical.
Certain life insurance companies in the UK have confessed to not paying out to 1 in 5 consumers when they have been diagnosed with a critical illness, and the main reason is either people telling porky pies on the application forms, i.e. i’m not a smoker (a sneeky 10-20 a day) or just as devastating, people claiming for an illness and then being told they are not covered by the terms of their particular policy.
We are talking here about ensuring that in the event of something terrible happening, that you have insurance that actually pays to your nearest and dearest. When £100,000’s are involved, it pays to talk to a trusted expert and get some advice. Cheapest is not always best and with this type of insurance policy, a comparison site should just be used for that “comparing” just don’t buy until you have spoken to a trusted adviser.
WARNING – A lot of firms on the internet promote themselves as putting you in touch with an independent adviser – Trumpo has researched a number of these internet companies who will sell your life insurance enquiry to anyone who is authorised with the FSA, and we have discovered that these so called independent advisers are actually tied advisers.
A tied adviser means that the adviser only represents one or a handful of life insurance companies and dont have access to the best available terms and products in the whole of the market place that an independent adviser will have. If you are in the process of taking out a policy just ask the adviser the question, are you an independent or a tied adviser?
