From a Truck to a Ferrari, a Spanish Ferrari

The Abbey National CEO describes the switch from the UK Banks old computer system onto the Spanish parent Banco Santanders own IT platform called partenon.

It seems strange that in the UK we seem to be the old ladies of the finance world, with ageing computer systems, and that thing call savings and plannning for your future now only the preserve of our european neighbours.

In the FT today Antonio Horta-Oso’rio comments on the IT switchover “it’s like if you have a ferrari and you have a rope tied to an old truck and you cannot get the rope until the ferrari has all the people on board that were on the truck.”

Nice.
